Summer 2017 at the After School Club

 

 

June 26 – 30 This week will start the day after the last day of school in Woburn, MA.  It will be a week of greeting old friends and meeting new ones.  There will be no field trips during this week, but we will go to the pool daily. And of course, any game that involves water is a must, the wetter, the better!

July 3 - 7 POW! ZAP! SWOOSH! Calling all superheroes to right the wrong and save the day. Put on your towel cape and get ready for a powerful force of fun.

Thursday, July 6 "Dispicable Me 3" Gru and his wife Lucy must stop former '80s child star Balthazar Bratt from achieving world domination.

July 10 - 14     Use your imagination to create gizmos that spin and gadgets that wobble.  Or try your hand at building a catapult that flings marshmallows into the air.  Anything is possible with a little ingenuity and a venturesome spirit.

 

Tuesday, July 11   Boston Children's Museum   Use pedal power to activate the Kid Power sign, light up the interactive dance floor, climb the walls, or hop on the power pump seats.     www.bostonchildrensmuseum.org

 

Thursday, July 13   POW! Science  The sky is literally the limit!  We'll show the kids how to play games and use precision cut wooden blocks in creative & innovative ways that will have them wishing the fun would never end!     www.powsciencetoys.com

July 17 - 21     Oinks, Moos, Howls and Mews…are a few of the sounds you might hear this week as you get to know some four legged friends.  Ever heard of a leap of leopards, a mischief of mice ? Find out more as we hoof it through this animazing week.

Thursday, July 20   Southwick Zoo   It's a jungle in there . Prepare to be amazed viewing giraffes, lions, tigers, white rhinos, and chimpanzees in the beautiful 200 acres of naturalistic habitats.     www.southwickzoo.com

July 24 - 28     Anchors away!  Landlubbers and seasoned sailors, prepare to hop aboard the ASC Fun Ship for a boatload of nautical smiles.  Try your hand at Crab Soccer.  Who will win the Squid Races?  These are just some of the marvelous maritime missions awaiting you.

 

Tuesday, July 25   New England Aquarium   The New England Aquarium is home to thousands of aquatic animals—from the giant Pacific octopus to Northern fur seals to little blue penguins.    www.neaq.org

 

Thursday, July 27   Boston Harbor Cruise   On this fully narrated 90-minute tour, we’ll regale you with hero tales of the Revolutionary War, local legends of the sea, and stories of characters past and present.     www.bostonharborcruises.com

July 31 - August 4   This week we will be enjoying some of the kid’s all-time favorites.  It wouldn't be summer at the ASC without our annual t-shirt tie dyeing day and Cheeto Head.  And we will play our 13th annual Kickball Game at Weafer Park!

August 14 - 18   Bring on the holidays!  We will celebrate a different holiday each day, including Christmas, Halloween and the ever popular “Unbirthday” Day.  Let the celebrations begin!

August 21 - 25   We kick off this week by looking skyward to an amazing partial solar eclipse.  Join us as we let our imaginations soar while learning about the moon, sun and the planets, making moon sand and playing out of this world games. 

 

Tuesday, August 22   Museum of Science   Stand in front of a full-size model of the cockpit of the “Lunar Module,” see moon rock fragments, visit outer space without leaving the planet!  Blast off to discover a world beyond Earth. Thursday, August 24   Prince Pizzeria  What better way to end the summer than with a full tummy and memories of making your own pizza and decorating a yummy cupcake!  The only requirement is an empty stomach!    www.princepizzeria.com
